During shelter-in-place, I began photographing shacks, barns, and houses within their pastoral settings while exploring different parts of the country on road trips. I was drawn to their uniquely American architecture and rustic beauty they acquired over time. Utilizing my techniques of layering paint on wood panels, I was able to capture this stoicism as a metaphor for our own personal survival and evolution despite the obstacles we all endure through life’s often turbulent journey. The paintings themselves exude a meditative quality that is both satisfying and soothing to the viewer.
